Safe Sex

Pay close attention your lives may be at risk! Teenagers need to be informed about safe sex. Safe sex is basically anything done during sex play to reduce the chance of getting an infection. Getting pregnant at a young age is also a procedure that can be avoided when having sex. Safe sex is something that we can all take into consideration. Jose Flores, a sophomore at SEHS, says “Well to be honest when it comes down to the moment I don’t really think I would use protection.” Using protection when having sex such as both male and female condoms can help. Catching an infection can ruin the lives of many teens.

I’m pretty sure that won’t be happy to find out that you have an infection because you weren’t well protected when having sexual relations. Safe sex requires good communication between partners and also former planning. Teens can enjoy the pleasures of their sexual relationship while possibly reducing the risks involved. Having sex is a part of life but knowing when it is the right time and how it happens is the important matter. Take it into consideration that you may and probably will ruin both of your lives if not taking sex literally. Keep a good conversation among yourself and talk about if it’s a good idea to have sexual relations, especially at a young age.

There are many of ways to practice safer sex. For example, a condom can be considered a way to practice safer sex. Josue Benavidez, a sophomore at SEHS, says “I think condoms are the safest, when using a condom do not be too sure you are completely safe from getting your Girlfriend pregnant. To prevent that from happening I suggest also using the pull out method.”  Condoms are the only form of protection that can both help to stop the transmission of a STD such as HIV, and the prevention of pregnancy. There is a probability that the condom you are using may rip so make sure it’s new and use it the right way. Don’t ever get too confident always have a back up plan or be extra secure.

Condoms for both male and females can be also used. There are penis, vaginal, anal, and oral condoms. Jose Flores also says, “If I had a condom with me at the moment I would make sure to use it and prevent anything that may happen.” If you are planning on having sexual relations use a condom, there’s a good chance that you won’t catch anything. Just because you are a girl does not mean you can not use a condom.  Let me remind you that no method is guaranteed 100% that you will be completely safe no matter what type of protection you use. Whether you use the vaginal, anal, or penis condom you always have to make sure it is new and applied properly to avoid problems. These types of condoms will help depending on what you are doing that’s why they were specially made.

Another way to practice safer sex is to only have sex play which has no risks of passing STDs. This means that there cannot be vaginal or anal intercourse. Ana Garcia, a sophomore at SEHS, says “Abstinence is the most effective form of protection. By not doing it at all, not only are you less in risk of getting STDs but also of spreading it.” You don’t always have to have sex to have some type of sexual contact. Great sex is much more than a penis going in a vagina or anus constantly. It is about finding out other ways you and your partner can arouse each other. Rubbing against each other can be a way to arouse each other without having sex. Not only is it a way to realize new sexual pleasures, but it can also be a lot safer.

I remember my uncle telling me how his best friend didn’t practice safe sex and ended up getting a girl pregnant at a young age. Sure it’s not as serious as getting a disease but having a child at a young age isn’t good either. He said that his girlfriend was at his house and they decided to have sex. He didn’t have a condom at that time and decided to risk it. He wishes he had waited and hadn’t rushed things. Hopefully from this experience you will realize that waiting and making sure you are secure can make a big difference.

Having safe sex is very important. Remember, there will always be consequences when having sexual relations, therefore, make sure you take that into consideration. One way to be safe can be to, carry protection wherever you go if you think something may occur. Safe sex is basically anything done during sex play to reduce the chance of getting an infection; try to be safe. Do not forget that everything has a consequence. Don’t rush things!
